Transitional Design is the key trend for 2017

It has been a month since the Salone del Mobile took place in Milan, and now the time has come to evaluate the most representative trends seen inside the pavilions of Rho Fiera. In particular, Transitional Design is becoming mainstream and a large amount of companies is using its rules as principles for new products launched in the market.

Fashion brands, for example, are entering the furniture industry by the adoption of this trend, with the aim to create a lifestyle that embraces a new concept of luxury, characterized by exclusiveness and distinction. They are focusing on the importance of comfort and relax, in these fast times where having a moment for ourselves is becoming exclusive.

Transitional, indeed, merges past and future, tradition and innovation: its origins can be find in the natural convergence between the different cultural and geographic areas of the new digital and globetrotter consumers. Their search for comfortable and unique spaces lead to the fusion between different fields like outdoor and indoor or home and office.

At the very beginning, this trend was mainly applied in residential projects, but nowadays it is expanding also in Office Design and in coworking spaces.

In particular, Transitional trend represents the transition between classic and modern style, which is blurring their borders and converging them into new unreleased solutions characterized by refined materials and finishing. A new concept of Contemporary Luxury is making his way, according to a fusion of cultures and approaches that lead to a new dynamic lifestyle.

In general, this style is characterized by lines that are not as severely basic as in the contemporary style. Soft and neutral color palettes are used without complex textures or ornaments, but combined with metal materials like brass, copper and bronze, to create precious accents. The ensemble of curves with straight lines deliver a comfortable and relaxing mood, while the lack of decoration maintains the focus on simplicity, as desired by contemporary users.
