Material and Immaterial, the New Edition of Design per Tutti Returns in May

Four lessons to explore the subtle boundary between material and immaterial, physical and digital world, together with professionals specialize in disciplines close to design and architecture. In May 2024 every Wednesday evening in starting at 8.00 pm, enthusiasts and experts will meet at LevelHUB to attend talks and practical workshops.

 

The Fourth Edition of Design per Tutti is Coming

 

A look at the potential of Artificial Intelligence, at the connections between the physical and digital world, to recognize what is real from the ephemeral. The new edition of Design per Tutti, this year pushes towards the deepening of a dualism that is increasingly discussed: the one between material and immaterial dimensions. It will start from architecture and design, passing through cinema, fashion and the food industry, together with professionals ready to share their knowledge with the public.

The fourth edition of the cycle of free lessons dedicated to professionals, students and enthusiasts about the discipline, for four Wednesday evenings starting from May 8th, sees alternating testimonies from experts, who will tell the public about case studies, analyzing the relationship between the ephemeral and the physical world.

 

Material and immaterial, food for thought

“Our most important cultural event is back and this year addresses a particularly stimulating and current topic. The relationship between the immaterial (which also includes Artificial Intelligence) and the material, which gives substance to our daily experience”, says Massimo Gianquitto, ceo of Level Office Landscape and creator of the Design per Tutti format. “During all four events the public will be engaged in careful reflection on what our future could be”. Through talks, case studies and laboratory activities that will involve them personally, participants will be able to enjoy vertical insights on current affairs.

 

Algorithm: the Tailor of the Future? The Fashion Between Material and Immaterial

The first event is taking place on May 8th with and is focusing on fashion. Guia Rossi, Jnalist specializing in fashion & design and teacher at IED Milan and MOODART Verona, will talk about Artificial Intelligence in the fashion world, with a leap into the Metaverse and the concepts of Blockchain and NFT. With a look at the first virtual collections put into production after digital orders, she will analyze the logic of gaming applied to the fashion sector. Following, the stylist and architect Sofia Alemani will involve the public with a practical workshop.

 

Impossible Architecture. The New Spaces that Don’t Exist

The second event scheduled for the evening of May 15th will focus on the concept of impossible architecture, with a look towards new digital spaces and artefacts. Federica Sanchez, Architect and Neuroscience Researcher, will talk about the role of the mind in the perception of space, while the architect and artist Andrea Meregalli will show her works created with Artificial Intelligence. Thoughts, words, works and obsessions: Meregalli’s research in visual communication has its roots in technical and scientific studies. Participation in the meeting will allow professionals to receive 2 credits for the Order of Architects.

 

Hyperfoods. From Traditional to Digital Cuisine

The third lesson of Design per Tutti will explore the boundaries of taste, together with two chefs and an expert in food & beverage communication. Hooman Soltani, architect and chef, will lead the audience to discover distant gastronomic traditions, while Penelope Vaglini will show the evolution of cuisine towards the digital world, exploring the pros and cons of the most recent trends through international case studies. Finally Davide Marzullo, young executive chef of the Michelin starred restaurant Trattoria Contemporanea, will talk about his unconventional cuisine, also offering a taste of his dishes.

 

Modern Times. Does Cinema Become More Real Than Reality?

The last lesson of Design per Tutti will bring two experts from the movie industry to LevelHUB on of May 29th evening. On one hand Anna Chiara Ferrero, exhibition organizer, on the other the director Alberto Delvoi. Together they will discuss how the dialogue between cinema, design and visual arts suggests other ways of narrating the space-reality relationship, also looking to the future, but with a solid historical background. Participation in the meeting will allow to receive 2 credits for the Order of Architects.

 

Sofia Alemani

Sofia Alemani, designer and architect, founded her brand “Sofia Alemani Fashion Creative” in 2009 after a career characterized by the eclecticism of professional experiences ranging from art to interior design, from set design to painting and sculpture. Since the first collections presented in the context of Milan Fashion Week, in Monte Carlo and Alta Roma, Sofia Alemani’s fashion project stands out for its non-conformist idea: unique couture garments, but accessible and enjoyable even during the day.

Roberto Delvoi

Roberto Delvoi is an Italian director based in Milan. In 2017 he founded Ipnose Studio in Milan with an eye towards experimentation and the mix between cinema and art. Among his works are the documentaries “Aktionist”, a visual portrait on the figure of the artist Hermann Nitsch. “Ou Peut Le Fair – Ben Vautier Et Ses Vérités” on the artist Be Vautier and Eric Andersen: Story of Fluxus and The Banner. His feature films are “Conz, The Last Collector” (2021) biography of the beloved and discussed collector and publisher Francesco Conz “Asfalto Che Suona” (2024) on the collective “Anti-Classica 19’40”. He is currently working on documentary film on the Sound Poet Giovanni Fontana. In 2024, on behalf of Ipnose Studio, he created the visual installation during the Arte Fiera di Bologna at Palazzo Hercolani Bonora entitled “Flesh To Flesh”.

Anna Chiara Ferrero

An expert in visual arts, cinema, design, she has many years of experience in organizing exhibitions for various public and private museums, an activity that she carries out in parallel with that of a contract professor.

Davide Marzullo

Growing up in his uncle’s restaurant and fascinated by the scents and aromas of cooking, he decided to study and make this profession his dream. Once he completed his studies, his desire to continue training and testing himself took him to various renowned kitchens around the world, including the Hibiscus restaurant and The Connaught in London, The Market Place in Como and Noma in Copenhagen. These experiences helped him refine techniques, develop a thirst for research into raw materials and understand the most difficult aspects of kitchen work. In 2019 he participated in Antonino Chef Academy, the famous Sky cooking show, beating the competition and winning the program and a work experience in Villa Crespi, alongside chef Cannavacciuolo. Today he is the executive chef of Trattoria Contemporanea, where he built an innovative concept of Contemporary Dining from scratch, a cuisine made of techniques, experimentation, contamination, research but also instinct, courage, audacity and inclusiveness. Just one year after opening, Trattoria Contemporanea reaches an important milestone by winning its first Michelin Star.

Andrea Meregalli

Born in Seregno (MB) in 1977, he lives and works in Monza. After his scientific high school diploma he graduated in architecture in 2002 at the Politecnico di Milano and opened his own professional studio with Maddalena Merlo, dealing with design at different levels. At the same time he developed personal research projects in the artistic and editorial fields, working for years without showing anything. In 2020, during the lockdown, he decided to make his work public. Always attentive to new technologies, he immediately began to experiment with the use of artificial intelligence software for the generation of images, texts and videos to support his search for him.

Guia Rossi

Guia Rossi is a professional Journalist specialize in fashion & design. Her collaborations on the web and on paper include Condé Nast, AMTD Idea, Hearst Magazines Italia, Cairo and Mondadori. If transmediality is one of the keys to understanding her work, curiosity and passion are the driving forces she uses to train the new generations. She teaches fashion and art direction at IED Milan and MOODART Verona and she is increasingly convinced that today, it is the How and not the How Much that makes the difference.

Federica Sanchez

Federica Sanchez is an architect, consultant and researcher in Applied Neuroscience at Lombardini22. She have collaborated in various projects for offices, retirement homes, learning spaces, shopping malls, prisons and exhibition spaces. Federica is part of NuArch, a research project born from the collaboration between Lombardini22 and CNR-IN Parma, which investigates the effects of architecture on human beings from a neuro-physiological and social point of view under the guidance of the neuroscientist Giacomo Rizzolatti. Furthermore, she collaborates on a research project in applied neuroscience for the Salone del Mobile with the aim of improving the visitor experience together with MySpace Lab, a research center of the Clinical Neuroscience department of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. She graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano and in Landscape Architecture at TU Delft, and gained work experience in Japan, the Netherlands and Italy, collaborating on various projects such as installations, schools and hospitals. Subsequently she obtained the Postgraduate Master in ‘Neuroscience applied to Architectural design’ at IUAV, Venice, and a Higher Education Master in ‘Olfactory Spatial Design’ at POLI.Design. She is interested in neuroaesthetics, philosophy and phenomenology, and lectures at international universities.

Penelope Vaglini

A Milan-based food and beverage editor, Penelope travels the world to experience the best restaurants and cocktail bars to tell their stories in Forbes, L’Officiel Italia, ICON Magazine and Gastronomika. She is the digital content coordinator for Robb Report Italia, as well as the co-founder of Coqtail Milano, the first Italian community focused on mixology and The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy Chair for Italy. A specialist in trend research, she edits annual reports analysing the food and beverage industry as well as writing features on the latest spirits news.
