 |  Events, News

From April 8th to the 18th, Elle Decor’s exhibition in Palazzo Bovara is hosting Level Office Landscape’s, Cosentino’s and Icomfort’s concept for “Sensory Design”

Modern day advancements, technological evolution, climate change and international competition are all essential aspects that influence our day to day decision making. These aspects impact everyone and cause us to reconsider our roles as inhabitants of Earth and reflect upon the consequences of our actions.

Our work is greatly influenced by these factors, a new era is emerging that’s stripping the boundaries between home and the office granting working men and women the freedom to organize their days and work schedules.

A triad composed of Level Office Landscape, Cosentino and Icomfort came together in order to convey their solutions to the emerging needs of individuals through the development of the Sensory Design Project.

Their objective is centered around the creation of new habitats: cozy workplaces that incorporate technology into the furniture, improving workers wellbeing while helping to better balance the time spent on individual tasks.

The combination of structure, material and innovation can bring serenity to the office: form and function gets merged with aesthetics and performance, giving birth to productive yet welcoming environments. Private and personal lives converge becoming one, where work and relaxation coexist.

Sensory Design Elle Decor Design Week 2019

During Milan’s 2019 Design Week, inside the expo of “Elle Décor at work. The Evolution of Workspace”, Sensory Design describes new ways of conceiving the office, analyzing modern working environments such as Smart Working and its evolution towards Healthy Working: an environment in which technology serves to aid people by collecting useful environmental data in order to ensure healthy working environments.

Modern day Work Models are changing the office, appearing less conventional and structured, favoring open, flexible layouts. The objective of an open plan workspace, otherwise known as open-space, is to foster collaboration between employees and freelancers, favoring the circulation of ideas and positive interaction. However, this style of office can only be achieved if external elements such as light, sound and temperature are properly managed through appropriate office design in order to promote worker satisfaction and productivity. Offices layout must respond to the needs of its users and find a harmony with the biological rhythm of the human body. User centered design is the perfect method for designing the ideal office layout.

Sensory Design is a concept that integrates technology into furniture by use of sensors and computers, monitoring and recording a constant stream of data (environmental, chemical, etc) in order to maintain and regulate its environment. Thanks to specially designed hardware and software, as well as a network of sensors, environmental data is collected in order to improve an offices efficiency. The final objective is to not only improve a company’s economic situation, but to additionally improve workers wellbeing and thus increase productivity.

Smart Wall and Techdesk are Level’s Smart Office products showcased at Palazzo Bovara between the 8th and 18th of April, integrated with a digital board that shows the environmental parameters of the space to all its visitors.

Dekton is a revolutionary ultra-compact surface developed by the Cosentino Group and used as a wall cladding inside the Sensory Design installation. Being a highly technological material, it’s composed of a sophisticated mixture of raw materials such as porcelain, glass and quartz, particularly characterized by its robustness and versatility for interior design and architectural applications.

iComfort sensors analyze key parameters around the office and communicate this data via a wireless system, relaying environmental information and the positions of individuals around the workspace to its users.
