Place, the Phone Booth for Randstad Box
Open space offices are hotbeds for ideas and allow people to discuss, exchange opinions and benefit from so-called collaborative work. The openness and absence of partitions can sometimes be the cause of noise pollution which, if perpetrated over time, leads to a drop in productivity and frustration, especially when it’s necessary to concentrate and carry out precise operations.
Phone booths are contemporary furniture usually installed in open-plan offices to mitigate acoustic problems and create little private rooms. Thanks to these small office cabins equipped with seats and surfaces, employees engaged in a phone call, a virtual call can concentrate within an acoustically isolated environment.
Office Telephone Booth, the Project by Level Office Landscape and Spazio SP
For the Milanese project of Randstad Box, a new corporate space dedicated to training and coworking, Level Office Landscape partnered with architects Lara Pallante and Eva Simoncini of Spazio SP to design a new furniture, similar to a telephone booth.
Place is a phone booth to carry out a call and at the same time sit and chat with a colleague. The bold and urban style differentiates it from other models on the market, thanks to references to the gaming world. This product, with a strong and colorful character with a see-through seat that interacts with the surrounding space and a great visual impact, guarantees excellent acoustic performance and adapts to many locations and company environments.

Place has total dimensions of 370 cm per 110 cm and a height of 249.5 cm. The phone booth measures 95×95 cm, while the rest of the space is dedicated to a pass-through niche covered and padded with red cushions, used as a bench. The external coverings of the soundproof cabin are lacquered in blue RAL5013 while the head niches have shelves lacquered in red RAL2002.
The Place office phone booth is accessible with a 100 mm thick transparent tempered glass door framed in polished aluminum with a retractable automatic door closer and a square-section stainless steel handle. The covering of the internal walls is made of sound-absorbing felt, while the platform, also sound-absorbing, is made of grey carpet. A black lacquered shelf with electrified top access allows the wiring of any charging laptops and smartphones, while the seat is a black eco-leather stool.
The roof of the office cabin has a presence sensor that emlighten the external “on air” sign when the space is occupied, while the internal lighting is entrusted to a concealed recessed natural light LED spotlight. Air exchange is guaranteed by a smart electronic extractor/exchanger which regulates itself independently in relation to internal and external temperature and humidity, activating one of the three speeds of the automatic fan. The external blue panels are enhanced by lines of light from external LED tubes.
